This forum has been created as an outlet for all of the Las Vegas Adviser political junkies that have been hushed up at the LVA website.
I'm not sure what the level of interest or participation will be but I hope many of our esteemed LVA posters will like to continue carrying our ongoing feud over politics here.
I would like to keep the discussion reasonably civil understanding the nature of political debate often leads to very spirited opinions. I have another thread that lists some posting guidelines I intend to enforce very loosely.

Mindbender is happy to be welcomed.....
Just to get the ball rolling.....
Mindbender finds Obama's handling of the Chrysler matter horrific. In this country, when folks loan money to a company in the form of Senior Bonds, those bond holders get first call on the assets of a company that is bankrupt. Instead, Obama gave 50%+ to the UAW as a pay back for their support.
It is like a house going into foreclosure and Obama giving the gardener control of the property instead of the loan company who is actually out cash. The gardener gets his pay perhaps for work already done....but is not given the house.
The UAW workers get paid their wages, sure....that is only right, but they don't get the company instead of the bond holders who have lost billions of dollars.
Bond holders are not some shady group, they are pensioners, retired folks and such.
Mindbender inquires: Why would anyone loan a company money to start up or expand when they no longer have first call on the companies assets? Mindbender can't think of anything worse for our economic future than this little Obama political payback scheme.

You very well may be right on this issue, bender, but I don't really know because economics and math give me headaches. What I DO know is that while President Obama (heretofore referred to as PO in my subsequent posts) may have made some mistakes along the way, and will probably make other mistakes, overall his performance on the economy so far deserves at least a solid B. The figures don't lie: stock market way up, consumer confidence improving, first-time unemployment claims less that expected in April, retail sales up, banks beginning to lend and make profits, and the American people know it. PO's lates Gallup poll approval numbers: 67/26.

Did anyone invite Forkush? Yes, he has been invited. I'm sure that makes some people happy and others ... well .... not so happy ;D This is an iopen forum. Feel free to pass along invites to anyone whose name does not contain the word "BEEM" (Little inside joke for some of us long time LVAers)

Me goddamit. The people who buy Chrysler Bonds are speculators, you preposterous windbag. This outfit got bailed out decades ago, changes hands more often than a Sam's Town hooker, and hasn't had a viable business plan in years. How dishonest and foolish do you have to be to maintain that normal people would buy Chrysler Bonds? You must be a really shitty landlord. Mindbender must have totally mis-understood the guidelines on personal attacks and being cute with screen names. Please consider me MIA.....

Thank you for the welcome.
It still remains to be seen how this will shake out at LVA . At this moment, there is an utterly political thread ("Bail me out") on the front page of the FFA, and it's been there for over seventeen hours. And it hasn't been banned, even though I posted there!
I guess one of side effects of creating inconsistent and overly emotional guidelines is the resulting mood swings.

PJ, what's with the Karma rating? How do you earn Karma points? As to your guidelines posting, you never struck me as someone with "fragile feelings", LOL.
